# Convert documents with SharePoint PDF converter

The PDF converter for SharePoint comes with a number of facilities that allow input and output paths to be specified, e.g. the location and file name of an input watermark or converted file.

It is possible to point to pretty much any path within a Web Application, but as there are clear security boundaries between Web Applications it is not possible to convert a file in one Web Application and write the converted file to a different Web Application or even a different Farm.

**Please note that due to restrictions imposed by Microsoft's SharePoint App Store, it is not possible to use the SharePoint Online version of our converter to write to locations outside the site collection that started the conversion. (unless you are happy to [use a workaround](https://www.nutrient.io/blog/convert-and-move-files-between-different-sharepoint-online-site-collections-using-flow/))**
