# How to check if a SharePoint server runs workflows

From time to time our support desk may ask if one or more of the SharePoint servers in your farm are involved in executing workflows. This can be determined as follows:

1. Navigate to `http://YOUR_CA_SERVER/_admin/Server.aspx` (replacing `YOUR_CA_SERVER` with the address and port of the server running Central Administration)

2. For each server in question, select it from the drop down menu.

3. Check if the 'Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Workflow Timer Service' is started for that server.

A server is also considered to be involved in executing workflows if it runs the Workflow Manager (SP2013 and later only)
