Office-to-PDF API questions

What is the Office-to-PDF API?

The Office-to-PDF API is a cloud endpoint that converts Microsoft Office documents — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — to PDF without running Microsoft Office on your own servers. It’s part of Nutrient DWS Processor and is called over REST.

Which file types can I convert to PDF?

It converts DOC and DOCX (Word), XLS and XLSX (Excel), and PPT and PPTX (PowerPoint) to PDF. For a single file type, you can also use the dedicated DOCX-to-PDF, Excel-to-PDF, and PowerPoint-to-PDF endpoints.

Do I need Microsoft Office installed to use it?

No. The API renders Office files to PDF in the cloud, so you don’t need Microsoft Office or Office automation on your infrastructure.

Which languages and tools are supported?

You can call the REST API from JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, PHP, or plain HTTP, and a Postman collection is available for your first request. See the getting started guide for API key setup.

How is pricing structured?

Conversions run on Nutrient DWS Processor credits. You can start for free, and per-credit rates are listed on the Processor API pricing page.

Can I combine conversion with other PDF operations?

Yes. Office-to-PDF conversion is part of the DWS Processor API, so you can chain it with other steps — such as merging, watermarking, or securing the resulting PDF — in one workflow.
