The City of Baltimore makes processes more efficient

Baltimore’s Business Process Improvement Office (BPIO) is focused on making the delivery of city services more efficient and cost-effective. The team uses Nutrient Workflow to standardize and automate manual, paper-, and email-based city workflows as part of the city’s digital transformation. We sat down with three members of the BPIO team to hear about their mission and methods: BPIO Director Babila Lima; BPIO Project Manager Varghese Paranilam; and Data Automation and Technology Analyst Melanie Shimano.

The goal of the Business Process Improvement Office

Director of Baltimore’s Business Process Improvement Office (BPIO) Babila Lima explains the mission and scope of the team and highlights how it’s working to improve the efficiency of the city’s services. She explains how the City of Baltimore is working toward fully paperless government operations by rethinking how work flows across departments. Nutrient Workflow supports this effort by enabling task automation, visibility, and a shared framework for process improvement within the Department of General Services.
