How we fixed the GdPicture license expiration (and what to do if you’re affected)

If your document conversions stopped working on 10 January 2026, this post explains what happened and how to fix it.

    What happened?

We identified a licensing issue (14.2.100) affecting the GdPicture component in Document Automation Server (DAS) and Document Converter Services (both online and on-premises versions). The internal GdPicture license expired unexpectedly, causing document conversion and related processing features to fail. If you encountered the issue, you saw an error message like this:

***Your Nutrient production key expired (valid until 2026-01-10 16:00:00).***

This license was internal to our software, not your Nutrient license. The error message could have made it appear to be a customer license issue.

Document Converter Online users were unaffected.

    How to fix the issue

Our engineering teams have updated the GdPicture licensing in these products.

Document Automation Server — Version 6.0.2601.16 has been released with the fix included. You can download it from our website and follow the usual upgrade process. When you retest your jobs, you’ll see that they’re working as before.

Document Converter Services — A full build is coming soon. In the meantime, we’ve created a hotfix patch that updates a single file in your installation, so you can restore functionality without a full reinstall.

Applying the Document Converter Services patch

This process covers both Document Converter Services and Document Converter for SharePoint.

    1. Download the DCS patch(opens in a new tab).
    2. Unzip the patch, and navigate to the Muhimbi.GDPictureLibraryWrapper.exe file.
    3. Right-click and select Properties. Click the Unblock tick box, and apply and close.
    4. In File Explorer, navigate to your DCS installation, and go to <installation folder>/gdpicturewrapper
    5. Make a backup of this folder.
    6. Copy Muhimbi.GDPictureLibraryWrapper.exe from the patch into the gdpicturewrapper folder in your DCS installation.
    7. Retest your jobs. The license issue will now be fixed.
