How to install and configure Ghostscript for PDF post-processing
Nutrient Document Converter doesn’t require third-party software for standard operations. However, if you use OCR and PDF/A archiving add-on’s post-processing features, you must install Ghostscript on all servers running Nutrient Document Converter Services.
Recommended Ghostscript versions
We test and recommend specific Ghostscript versions. You can download the supported version using the following links:
Installation options
-
During installation, the setup wizard includes an option to download and install the supported Ghostscript version automatically.
-
If you’re using an older version of Nutrient Document Converter, or you didn’t select the automatic option, follow the steps below to install Ghostscript manually.
Steps to install and configure
-
Download the appropriate Ghostscript version (32-bit or 64-bit) based on your system architecture.
-
Install Ghostscript on each server running Nutrient Document Converter Services. If you install it in the default location, Nutrient Document Converter will detect it automatically.

Muhimbi.DocumentConverter.Service.exe.config
using Notepad. This file is located in the directory where Nutrient Document Converter Services is installed. You can access the folder using the shortcut in the Muhimbi Document Converter Start menu group. -

Ghostscript.Path
key. -
Set the full path to the Ghostscript executable, including the file name — for example,
E:\Program Files\gs\gs9.04\bin\gswin64c.exe
.
-
Restart the service
-
Open the Windows Services Management Console.
-
Restart Nutrient Document Converter Services.
