Nutrient .NET SDK 14.4.10 adds partial redaction and United States Postal Service (USPS) Intelligent Mail Barcode recognition. It also improves document conversion, PDF analysis, and text extraction.

Below are the notable updates in this release.

Partial redaction

Partial redaction can preserve the final logical group of detected sensitive values. This gives you more control over how redaction affects grouped data.

Barcode recognition and scanning

The SDK can now recognize USPS Intelligent Mail Barcodes (IMb) through the BarcodeIntelligentMailReader methods on GdPictureImaging. The highest-quality mode can read barcodes at any angle. If the native barcode reader encounters an internal failure, it now reports GdPictureStatus.BarcodeWrongState.

QR code recognition is also more reliable on scans with smudged timing patterns, compressed rows, damaged corner squares, or tight cropping. For scanning workflows, new TWAIN methods expose extended image information reported for each acquired image, including hardware-detected patch codes.

Office conversion

Word-to-PDF conversion now supports the STYLEREF field. Headers and footers can then display the relevant paragraph text, such as the current heading, instead of a cached field value. DOCX-to-PDF conversion also supports Hebrew and Arabic letter list numbering.

Other fixes improve presentation table row sizing, right-to-left list numbering and text wrapping, floating-table layout, and rendering of picture-filled PowerPoint shapes. Excel files with certain missing table-style settings or damaged internal references can now open when those references are repairable.

PDF analysis and text extraction

PDF layout analysis improves heading and table detection, including tables with stacked records, merged cells, or shaded rows. Markdown text extraction better handles ligatures, rotated or clipped text, underlines, and fonts that identify characters by glyph name. PDF-to-HTML conversion is also faster and uses less memory for documents with many text runs.

PDF encryption now uses random Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) initialization vectors and keys with the system cryptographic provider. This release also fixes intermittent email-to-PDF failures and several PDF rendering, extraction, and export issues.

Imaging, OCR, and reliability

The SDK fixes a memory leak when TWAIN barcode detection is enabled. It also fixes loading of the Linux native libraries on glibc 2.34 systems, and the SDK no longer misdetects video files as HEIF images. Multizone optical character recognition (OCR) now returns words for zones that share a text line with an earlier zone. In 32-bit processes, the SDK no longer reports production licenses as trial licenses.
